Signature dish guidelines

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Signature dishes are recipes that couples publish from their own wedding. Other couples can admire them, and vendors can ask to use them. These guidelines keep that fair for everyone.

1. What a signature dish is

A couple creates a signature dish from their wedding: a name, a photo, the story behind it, the ingredients, the steps and serving notes. Each dish gets a page and a link that does not change. The couple who made it is the creator.

2. What you may publish

  • Publish only recipes and photos that are yours, or that you have clear permission to share. Please do not copy another person's recipe, a cookbook, a website or a restaurant menu.
  • Be honest about the dish. The ingredients, the allergens, the spice level and whether it is vegetarian must be correct. Allergen information is a safety matter: if you are not sure, say so.
  • Keep the story and descriptions kind and respectful. No abusive, discriminatory or harassing words, and no personal details of other people (phone numbers, addresses).
  • Do not make health or medical claims about a dish.

3. How others may use your dish

You choose one way of sharing for each dish:

  • Request only — vendors ask, and you answer each request yourself.
  • Paid — vendors pay to use the dish and it is approved automatically.
  • Donation — free to use, with a donation invited (to you or to a cause you name).
  • Thank-you note only — free to use; the vendor credits the source.

A vendor can be given one of two kinds of use:

  • Kitchen access — the vendor may prepare and serve the dish at events.
  • Rebrand — the vendor may present the dish under their own business as part of their menu.

You set the price for paid use. Belweds keeps a small platform cut of each paid use, and the cut is shown to you when you set your price. Donations go entirely to the creator. A vendor you hire for your own wedding can always use your dish for that wedding at no charge.

4. If you are a vendor using a dish

  • Pay what the creator asks, and use the dish only in the way you were given.
  • With a kitchen licence, credit the creator wherever you describe the dish.
  • Do not change the allergen or ingredient information to say something that is not true for your kitchen.

5. Reporting and removal

If a dish breaks these guidelines, anyone can report it with the Report button. Our moderators look at each report. While we look into it, or if the dish does not meet these guidelines, we may hide the dish. Hiding keeps the dish's information safe, and a hidden dish can be shown again if the problem is put right.

6. Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines from time to time. The date at the top shows the version you are reading. Questions? Email [email protected].
